Everyone has heard of the company SENA, known for their communication systems that can be installed on motorcycle helmets. But did you know they also offer helmets with built-in communication systems?
Since last summer, I’ve been testing one of these products, which I must say comes at a very reasonable price. SENA provided me with the Stryker helmet for this review. I was pleasantly surprised by its outstanding features, which I’ll present here.
Ultra-Clear SENA Communication With Mesh Intercom
The Stryker helmet is a smart full-face helmet. It comes equipped with Mesh Intercom and Bluetooth technologies, as well as premium speakers and a high-end microphone designed by the audio experts at Harman Kardon. The seamless integration of the speakers and microphone into the helmet provides exceptional audio clarity.
The Stryker helmet features high-end components, including an integrated rear light and a convenient retractable sun visor. It has a DOT-approved composite fibreglass shell, is lightweight, and boasts an impressive design with seven ventilation ports.
Premium Audio in the Stryker Helmet with Harman Kardon System
The Stryker delivers an unmatched audio experience thanks to Harman Kardon. The speakers and microphone were designed in collaboration with Harman Kardon’s audio experts to offer superior sound quality.
Indeed, the high-end speakers deliver a home-theatre-style sound, while the microphone, equipped with a new sensor, ensures optimal performance for voice communication while riding.
Bluetooth and Mesh Intercom Technologies in the Stryker Helmet
The Stryker integrates both Mesh and Bluetooth Intercom platforms, allowing users to connect with any Sena helmet to communicate with fellow riders. Mesh provides high-quality intercom audio with two Mesh modes: Open Mesh Intercom and Group Mesh Intercom.
The multichannel Open Mesh Intercom introduces the market’s first Mesh Intercom channel system. Similar to standard walkie-talkies or CB radios, Mesh allows users to switch between nine channels in Open Mesh mode. Open Mesh connects to the Mesh intercom network at the push of a button and supports an almost unlimited number of users within a range of up to 8 km (minimum of six riders spaced 1.6 km apart).
For private group conversations, the Stryker offers the Group Mesh Intercom mode. Group Mesh supports a single private group of up to 24 participants and provides the same range as Open Mesh. To ensure privacy, only invited users can join the Group Mesh discussion.
The traditional four-way Bluetooth intercom mode is still available to connect the Stryker with other Sena Bluetooth-compatible users within a 2 km range. In addition, users can connect to one Sena Bluetooth Intercom user and thus participate in a Mesh 2.0 intercom conversation.
Intuitive Hands-Free Voice Commands on the Stryker Helmet
Voice commands allow riders to talk directly to their Stryker helmet while keeping their hands on the handlebars. Voice commands are supported in eight languages: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian.
Access to a digital assistant allows the Stryker to connect to Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri using a simple voice command. You can access your phone’s features using only your voice.
Magnetic Charging and Automatic Wi-Fi Updates
The Stryker features a new magnetic Pogo connection charging system. The new charging port, located at the rear of the helmet and tightly sealed, offers better protection against the elements while riding.
The Stryker includes a Wi-Fi circuit that provides automatic firmware updates while charging. Users no longer need to use the Sena Device Manager to update the device’s firmware.
Battery Life of the SENA Stryker: Up to 18 Hours
The Stryker offers up to 10 hours of talk time using the Mesh Intercom and up to 18 hours when using Bluetooth intercom.
